Several Nashville malls and stores have already announced closures for Thanksgiving Day.

Opry Mills Mall will be among the retailers closing on Thursday, November 26, 2020, after its parent company, Simon Property Group, announced all of its properties would be closed during the holiday in a press release earlier this week.

"In these challenging times, we made the decision that we will not open on Thanksgiving Day, instead allowing our associates to spend the holiday with their loved ones," said David Simon, chairman, CEO and president of Simon Property Group.

Opry Mills and other Simon Property Group retailers will reopen on Black Friday, according to the press release.

Several other national stores have also announced holiday closures ahead of Thanksgiving Day including Target, Walmart and Kohl's.

Target CEO Brian Cornell announced the store's plan to close on Thanksgiving Day in July in a press release.

“The investments we’ve made in our business and our incredible team have enabled us to move with flexibility and speed to meet guests’ changing needs during this global pandemic,” Cornell said.

Walmart president and CEO John Furner also announced his company's closure in July in a press release.

“Our associates have been working at an incredible pace, they’ve solved problems, and they’ve set an amazing example for others,” Furner said.

Kohl's CEO Michelle Gass announced the department store chain's closure in July, noting the importance of safety and convenience.

"We are deeply appreciative of how our team of Kohl's associates have shown up to serve our customers through the pandemic and know that they will continue to show Kohl's at our best throughout the holidays," Gass said.

Additional closures to Nashville stores and malls will be added to this story as they are announced.
