The Nashville Health Department has reportedly released a list of sites considered COVID-19 hotspots, which includes six downtown bars.

Data obtained by NewsChannel 5 shows 49 sites have been linked to more than 2,600 cases of coronavirus. According to the data, long-term care facilities accounted for 944 cases, which was the largest amount attributed to a specific facility or type of business, Newschannel 5 reports.

Additionally, 557 cases were traced to correctional facilities, 364 to congregate living facilities, 302 to commercial-warehouse operations, and 185 to construction sites, Newschannel 5 reports.

The data showed downtown bars -- which have either been both closed or reduced to limited capacity at times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic -- accounted for the sixth highest amount of cases with a total of 114 cases traced. The breakdown of cases to specific bars included in the data is listed below:

  • Losers Bar & Grill: 29
  • Tootsie's: 27
  • Dogwood: 19
  • Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk: 15
  • Dawghouse Saloon: 14
  • Winners Bar & Grill: 10

The Nashville Health Department did not release the list of locations with fewer than 10 cases in an effort to prohibit identifying potential patients in accordance with federal health privacy guidelines, Newschannel 5 reports.

Health officials confirm that the number of cases traced to Nashville bars may be significantly higher as they are also frequent tourists spots and symptoms are unlikely to develop until after the visitors return home, which is out of reach for contract tracers in Tennessee.
