Fans may be allowed to watch this year's World Series in person after all.
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred told USA Today this week that the league is planning to allow fans at the National League Championship Series and World Series, which will likely be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
“We are pressing ahead to have fans in Texas. One of the most important things to our game is the presence of fans. Starting down the path of having fans in stadiums, and in a safe and risk-free environment, is very, very important to our game," Manfred said.
The commissioner also added that ticket sales will be announced soon.
The MLB postseason is expected to start on September 29 and run through late October. Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, is one of four neutral sites where playoff games will be held. The other three are Minute Maid Park in Houston, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and Petco Park in San Diego.
In his interview, Manfred only mentioned the possibility of fans at Globe Life Field so it's not yet known if fans will be able to attend playoff games in other cities.
Globe Life Field is in its inaugural season and can seat up to 40,000 people. Its capacity for the MLB postseason hasn't been made know yet.
