The areas of Green Hills and 12South are now reportedly considered "hotspots" for COVID-19.

The Metro Nashville Health Department released its weekly "heatmap" of Nashville, which showed 1,060 active cases of coronavirus in Music City, with the greatest concentration in Green Hills, WKRN reports.

Metro Health Department spokesperson Brian Todd told WKRN the spike was the result of a cluster of cases at the Green Hills Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, an assisted living center located on Hillsboro Circle, although he could not confirm the exact number of active cases at the facility as of Wednesday morning.

According to a report obtained by WKRN on Monday night, a total of 43 cases were confirmed at the facility. The "heatmap" also showed 12South emerging as a possible "hotspot," although Todd could not confirm the reason behind the spike in cases.

The Metro Health Department's "heatmap" has consistently shown the largest concentration of active cases to be in Southeast Davidson County and downtown Nashville throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, WKRN reports.

On Wednesday, the Nashville Health Department announced a total of 28,287 cases of COVID-19, including 64 newly reported cases in a 24-hour span and 1,015 active cases were reported in Davidson County.
