Texas' license plate vendor, MyPlates.com, is auctioning off 50 of the most sought after personalized plates in the Lone Star State.
Some of the custom plates up for sale show state pride like TEXA5, TEXICAN or TXUS, and there are a good number for local sports fans like BEEVO and 1 MAVS. A few of the plates have never been used before, like LIBERTY and AMERICN. Bidding on the plates start at $500, and the auctions run from now until October 21.
Since these are legal license plates, winners can keep them for as long as they choose to renew their vehicle registration. Winners can also give the plates away, pass it on to family members, or sell them.
MyPlates has held similar auctions in years past and some of the plates sell for thousands of dollars. ALAMO sold for $10,250 in 2016, COWBOYS for $11,500 in 2011, and HOUSTON went for $25,000 in 2013. The most expensive plate ever sold was 12THMAN for $115,000 in 2013.
