College Students Faking Kidnappings During Zoom Classes In New Viral Trend

A new viral trend is emerging among college students who are engaged in remote learning. To get out of their virtual classes, the students are faking their own kidnapping, according to a report by Fox News. The videos are shared on TikTok, where they are racking up tens of millions of views. There's even an account named @zoomnappers, which has amassed over 200,000 followers and 7.5 million likes after sharing just a handful of videos.

In the most popular video, which has more than 27.5 million views, a group of masked men barge in and pick a student up out of his chair and carry him out of his dorm room.

One of the students can be heard laughing while the professor pointed out that "Benjamin has just been removed by his roommates."

Another video, shared by @benchmob, sparked some concern that the student had actually been kidnapped. The professor stopped speaking mid-sentence as one of his students, Tyler, was carried out by masked men.

"Did you guys just see Tyler get kidnapped?” he asked. “Do we need to call the police?"

After the video went viral, Tyler and his friends posted another video, explaining it was just a prank and that he was fine.
