The town of Swastika, New York has decided to keep its name. The local town board voted unanimously to keep the name, which predates the Nazis.

A passing cyclist inspired the possible name change after seeing the town sign on a recent ride. Board members say the name Swastika was picked back in 1913, and comes from the Sanskrit word for "well being."
