Amazon will hire hundreds of new employees in delivery center jobs around Chicago.

That’s split between six new locations in the Chicago area, CBS Chicago reported Monday (September 28). The delivery stations will open by the end of the year in Chicago, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Palatine and Bridgeview.

“What I like to tell folks is this is the equivalent of the Amazon post office,” said Amazon senior station operations manager Domonic Wilkerson, who leads the Melrose Park delivery station. “As you can tell, you have to have a good pace about you. We like to call it the Amazon pace, and the expectation is that our folks, we’re moving with a purpose.”

He added to CBS Chicago that job openings could appeal to applicants searching for a second job or a change because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The company also ensures that employees adhere to social distancing guidelines, wear masks, check temperatures upon arrival and more.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced thousands of additional jobs nationwide and in Canada. The announcement comes at a time that many customers are shopping online, and when online shopping will likely ramp up ahead of the holidays.

Those interested can search jobs and apply online.
