A tow truck driver was arrested and accused of illegally lifting an Audi with a 17-year-old girl inside in Miami, according to Local 10 on Friday (September 25).
Ani Rodriguez, the teen's mother, said a witness captured video of the tow truck driver's act.
In the video, it shows the Audi backing up and crashing into a car. Rodriguez claimed the tow truck driver "still hooked her and lifted her."
“When police arrived, he [the tow truck driver] lied and said he was towing the other car," Rodriguez said." Had it not been for the footage, they would have let him go.”
The mother claimed creditors and the repo company did not have the legal right to take away any of her property due to her bankruptcy.
“The car was being repossessed supposedly for non-payment, but I filed for bankruptcy so that was a mistake on Audi financial’s part, per my attorney," Rodriguez said.
Another video showed the tow truck driver getting arrested, while separate footage showed the tow truck getting towed.
Officer Michael Vega, a spokesman for the Miami Police Department, said the tow truck driver was arrested at 4141 NW 5th Ave, west of Miami's Design District.
No additional information came out about his identity nor charges.
