Funeral Held For Botham Shem Jean, Who Was Killed By Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger When She Entered Wrong Apartment

The City of Dallas is honoring the memory of Botham Jean today. Jean was killed in his own home by a police officer who has since been convicted of murder.

Mayor Eric Johnson declared September 29th as #BeLikeBo Day in honor of his birthday. Botham Jean was born on September 29, 1991 in Saint Lucia. He would have been 29 today.

Jean was very passionate about helping others in need and supported several organizations in his home country.

He moved to Dallas after graduating from Harding University where he was an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Botham Jean lived his life with the motto 'change a life today' which is the message behind #BeLikeBo Day. The day is set aside to encourage others to be kind and helpful to those around them and encourage positive change.

Mayor Johnson stated, "By giving back to his community, he set an example that all Dallasites can live by. I encourage everyone to be like Bo on his birthday this year and let the legacy of his short, bright life transcend the tragedy of his death."

Jean's family will gather at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters tonight to talk about his legacy.
