A man is facing charges for allegedly beating an elderly man over a fight about dog poop, Local 10 reported on Monday (September 29).
Police said Jay Deuschle was walking his dog in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood when it stopped to do its business.
A 71-year-old man saw Deuschle’s dog taking a number two on his lawn and asked the man to clean up after it.
Deuschle then punched the man in the face unprovoked, police said.
"Deuschle then gets over top of the victim and continues to strike him with a closed fist multiple times. The victim received several bruises on his face and chin. The victim also stated he was punched in the throat and is having issues swallowing and his voice is not the same,” the police report said.
The assailant was taken into custody and charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
He was expected to post his $1,000 bail Monday (September 29), but he must stay away from the victim, according to Local 10.
