Austin's 30th Annual Turkey Trot Is Going Virtual This Year Amid Pandemic

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, an annual Thanksgiving tradition, is going virtual this year just as many other events have due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thundercloud Subs co-owner and Turkey Trot executive director Mike Haggerty says this will definitely be a Trot to remember. "We hope that this will be the one and only year for a virtual Trot, and we plan to make it unique and special; one for the memory books," he said in a statement.

Participants are being encouraged to run in their own neighborhoods, but organizers also say that they will release some course suggestions in the future. There will be one-mile and five-mile options.

The registration fees for adults will cost $20 and $10 for for kids, but prices will increase on October 15th. The fees will get you a Turkey Trot T-shirt or any other swag option of your choice.

There will be a socially distanced packet pick-up option to get your bib and swag along with shipping options for an additional charge.

The proceeds from the Trot will be benefitting Caritas of Austin.

According to the ThunderCloud website, there will be an F.A.Q. soon to give more details on the event.
