San Antonio's newest coffee shop, located in Southtown, celebrated its grand opening on September 26th. The coffee shop is situated in the back parking lot of the San Antonio Mennonite church.

Café Cotidiano, a bakery and coffee trailer, is aiming to help families in San Antonio seeking asylum. The shop is run by Pastor Katie Best-Richmond, and volunteers and asylum seekers work it.

Best-Richmond stated, "Our church has seen an influx of asylum seekers and people who need a place to stay and need support during their long journeys. Our idea was, how can we create something that is able to support these amazing families that are in our community and is able to draw in the whole community into a parking lot?"

The menu items are a part of the asylum seekers' cultures and stories. There are baked goods as well, but some do not have set prices.

"We're also going to be donation-based so, it's kind of a pay what you want. We want to make sure that our coffee is accessible to everyone that our coffee represents," said Best-Richmond.

All of the proceeds from the café will do straight toward helping the families.

Café Cotidiano is located at 1443 South St. Mary's Street near Breckenridge High School and will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
