Heart's Nancy Wilson has for decades been asked whether she would make a solo album and finally the answer is yes.

"There have been so many times I was asked about when I would ever put out a solo album," she said in an announcement. "Well, the time is now. Having been unable to tour and having spent so much time at home has made a good place for creating new music."

The first single from the album will arrive October 23. It's a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The Rising."

"Because of these troubled times we're living in, 'The Rising' has been on my mind," Nancy continued. "I wanted to make something uplifting and aspirational for those of us who are suffering with all this sickness and loss. I hope this song can help lift our spirits."

Nancy's sister and bandmate Ann Wilson made her own solo debut in 2008 and released a second solo LP, Immortal, in 2018 during Heart's hiatus.

During that same period, Nancy co-founded Roadcase Royale, a band featuring members of Heart's touring collective alongside former members of Prince's live band, Liv Warfield and Ryan Waters.

Roadcase Royale released a full-length studio album, First Things First, in 2017, but plans to promote the record on tour supporting Bob Seger were disrupted when a back injury forced Seger to call off the trek.
