Drake Surprises Hospitalized Teen With A Special Birthday Message

Over the weekend, Drake surprised a 14-year-old fan with a personalized birthday video message.

In the nearly 40 second clip, Drizzy offered up words of encouragement to Zelek Murray, who was reportedly diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer.

"Zelek, what's up?," the "Laugh Now Cry Later" rapper began the video message. "My brother Mustafa hit me the other day and informed me of the extremely tough situation that you're fighting through. And we both thought it would be a great thing if I got to send you some love, and some admiration and respect."

He continued, "I can't imagine how tough you have to be and Mustafa let me know you're a fan of mine. Well, I'm a fan of you. I'm a fan of people with heart, and I can tell you have a lot of heart. So, I just wanna tell you stay strong, I love you and I appreciate you."

As noted by Drake, the video came to be after Canadian songwriter and Drake's frequent collaborator, Mustafa the Poet, reached out to him to make it happen.

After sharing the clip on social media, Zeleky's mom spoke to The Shade Room about what the video meant to her son and her family.

“This was so heartfelt and touching because Drake took the time out to give my son words of encouragement and light during a time that’s been very dark for me and my family,” she said. “The birthday has touched him in ways I’ll never be able to put into words.”

She added on Instagram: "THANK U @champagnepapi THANK YOU @mustafathepoet ..... You don’t even know how much this ment for US but most importantly “HIM”. His strength is like no other and yes he has his good days and bad days, BUT THIS is exactly what he needed to lift up his Spirit.. to never give up. Because you took time out of your day to put a smile on a 14yr old boys face (ZELEK MURRAY) @wxvy.zk06 you are my hero 🦸‍♀️ and many others. Your strength is like no other thank you for always having a smile on your face and making all your nurse laugh even tho your the one in pain. WE ARE FOREVER THANKFUL 🙏🏾🙏🏾."
