Can you imagine a world in which Mille Bobby Brown didn't play Eleven on Stranger Things? According to the 16-year-old actress, one tough audition rejection almost swayed her from pursing an acting career altogether. The horror—and not the kind you find in the Upside Down!
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday (October 2), Brown told Fallon she once auditioned for another extremely popular show—Game of Thrones. Though she didn't say which role she was pursuing, Brown did open up how much it stung not to get cast. "I think I was just very disheartened by the rejection, which is something I tell everyone," she explained.
"Like, this industry is just full of rejection, 24/7. You get far more noes—a lot of noes—before you get a yes. I was auditioning for commercials, for anything, really," she continued. "I then auditioned for Game of Thrones and I got a 'no' for that. Then that's kind of when I was like, 'Oh, this is really difficult,' because I guess I really wanted that role."
While the Game of Thrones rejection was a major bummer, Brown ultimately continued to pursue acting. Just two months later, she landed her breakout role on Stranger Things. The rest is TV history!
