Rihanna has apologized to the Muslim community for using a song that included sacred Islamic verses during her recent Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2 on Amazon Prime.

The 32-year-old singer and fashion designer took to Instagram Story on Tuesday (October 6) to issue her apology, writing, “I’d like to thank the Muslim community for pointing out a huge oversight that was unintentionally offensive in our savage x fenty show. I would more importantly like to apologize to you for this honest, yet careless mistake.”

"We understand that we have hurt many of our Muslim brothers and sisters, and i’m incredibly disheartened by this!” she continued. “I do not play with any kind of disrespect toward God or any religion and therefore the use of this song in our project was completely irresponsible! Moving forward we will make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Thank you for your forgiveness and understanding, Rih.”

Rihanna's fashion show playlist included the song “Doom” by Coucou Chloe. The track features a remix of a hadith narration, or words of the prophet Muhammad, about the end times and judgment day.

Following the backlash, Chloe issued an apology on Twitter Monday (October 5), writing that she was unaware her sampled track used text from the sacred hadith.

"I want to deeply apologize for the offence caused by the vocal samples used in my song 'DOOM'," she wrote. "The song was created using samples from Baile Funk tracks I found online. At the time, I was not aware that these samples used text from an Islamic Hadith." The singer added that she takes responsibility for not doing her research and is working on getting the song removed from all streaming platforms.
