22 Dead As Tornadoes Roar Across Tennessee, Including Nashville

Survivors from one of the areas hit hardest by deadly tornadoes in March will have the opportunity to reunite with their belongings this weekend.

The Putnam County Volunteer Organization announced it will be bringing found items from the tornado to the Women's Building at the Putnam County Fairgrounds on Friday, October 9 between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tornado survivors will be invited to view and claim their lost items between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

"To all survivors of the March tornado: if you would like to view items recovered following the March tornado, please come to the Women’s Building at the Putnam County Fairgrounds this Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11 between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm," the Facebook post announcing the event said. "Use the East entrance off Jefferson Avenue (by Taco Bell) and come to the Women’s Building. You must bring identification and proof of tornado affected residence."

The Putnam County Volunteer Organization is asking all area residents to help in providing any items found during cleanup of the March tornado as well.

Nearly two dozen Putnam County residents, including multiple children, were killed during the EF-2 tornado in March, which included winds of up to 175 MPH, FOX 17 News reports. As many as 77 people were reported unaccounted during initial search efforts and about 100 structures were either damaged or completely destroyed.

The March tornado was confirmed by surveyors in Putnam County as the first violent tornado to hit the NWS Nashville area since 2009, FOX 17 News reports.
