Anyone who ever wanted to camp in their treehouse as a kid can rekindle those childhood thrills in Geauga County.
The Geauga Park District unveiled its new “Tree House” campsite, nestled in the scenic woods in Big Creek Park.
“Camping in Geauga Park District will afford you a personal connection to the beautiful natural resources and many special features in four different parks: Big Creek Park, Headwaters Park, Chickagami Park and The West Woods,” the Geauga Park District says, noting the campground rules visitors should know.
Up to four campers can bunk in the “Tree House,” which offers wooden bunk beds and a fold-down bistro set, according to the Geauga Park District's "Tree House" guidelines. The preservation organization also lists outdoor amenities at the site, including a steel fire ring and cooking grate, a 10-square-foot tent pad, and restrooms in a nearby building, where guests should plan for no running water.
The Tree House site is available on a “first come, first served basis,” but campers should make sure to book a reservation ahead of time because the Geauga Park District doesn’t allow walk-in campers.
Check-in is no earlier than 2 p.m. during the organization's business hours, and check-out is at noon.
