The members of Linkin Park have been on a months-long trip down memory lane as the band celebrates 20 years of Hybrid Theory.
On Monday (October 12), Mike Shinoda took to Instagram to continue sharing never-before-seen photos from the band's archives. Long before the guys had a record label to promote their music, Linkin Park, like many bands, turned to a street team made of fans to help spread the word about their music.
Shinoda shared a series of photos of the guys packing up hundreds of cassettes to mail out to fans and it's definitely throwing us back.
“We’ve talked about 'boxing up our packages for the street team' back before we had a record deal, but I doubt you guys have ever seen the images,” he wrote in the caption. “Here’s me, Joe, Rob, and Jessica (our intern at the time) putting cassettes and stickers into boxes for fans. Joe is wearing our (at the time) brand new Hybrid Theory band shirt.”
Fans were in awe of the photos, especially because it proves just how far Linkin Park has come in its career.
“These pictures clearly depict you have worked hard for every bit of your success. Proud to be your fan,” one fan commented while another wrote, “The first letter for my LPU subscription had my address hand written. I still have it!”
In addition to sharing these older photos, Shinoda also posted photos of the recording session that resulted in the demo for “In The End.”
“We didn’t have a table & chairs in the room, so I just sat on the floor and worked. The second photo shows all the lyrics and song notes as we wrote,” he captioned the two pics.
