Austin has many great features such as warm weather, affordable housing, and a bustling cultural scene. Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin has a rich history with live music galore.
The city also boasts over 250 parks suitable for hiking, bicycle rides, jogs, kayaking, and canoeing. With so many positives, it's no surprise the "weird" city made the list of the top places to live.
US News released a list of 2020-2021's best places to live in the Nation. The list evaluated the 150 most populous metropolitan areas in the United States based on affordability, job prospects, and desirability.
To determine the best places to retire, the list looked at happiness, housing, affordability, health care quality, taxes, desirability, and job market ratings.
Austin was ranked as the third-best place to live. The city had an overall score of 7.4 out of 10, with a 7.1 in quality of life and a 6.6 in value.
Boulder, Colorado was ranked as the best place to live with an overall score of 7.8, followed by Denver, Colorado in second with a score of 7.4.
Following Austin and rounding out the top five was Colorado Springs, Colorado in fourth place and Fort Collins, Colorado in fifth.
