Arizona State University is open for in-person learning and online classes. With the ongoing global pandemic, the school has had to get creative with how it is accommodating students during this time.
With just a couple of months until the upcoming spring semester, the staff is hoping a new plan will help ensure the health and safety of the staff and students.
For the spring semester, there will be opportunities for more in-person learning as the school moves classes outdoors.
Katie Paquet, ASU spokesperson, told Fox 10 Phoenix, "We are heading into the most beautiful months here in Arizona so we want to be able to take advantage of the outdoor spaces and weather that is so great."
ASU has constructed new outdoor spaces on their Tempe campus and are working with staff members to determine what classes can be hosted in an outdoor space.
Paquet said, "Public health officials recommended that outdoor spaces are a good place to be right now and we want to make sure we are taking advantage."
In addition to the outdoor spaces, the school is adding technology upgrades such as microphones to make Zoom learning easier.
Outdoor learning is set to start at the beginning of the spring semester in January.
