Sorry, Ohio drivers.

It looks like you rank among the worst in the nation.

QuoteWizard, a Seattle-based insurance comparison company, published the fifth-annual study of the best and worst drivers in each state. It ranks each state “using millions of data points.”

That means analyzing more than 2 million insurance quotes from QuoteWizard drivers, and building a composite score based on the rate of occurrence between four factors: accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs and citations.

“States considered to have the worst drivers had the highest rates of each incident factor,” QuoteWizard explained. “States considered to have the best drivers had the lowest rates of each incident factor.”

Although Ohio, unfortunately, cracks the top 10 states with the worst drivers, it steered clear of the most accident-prone states, most lead-footed states, drunkest driving states and states with the worst driving habits, including texting while driving and failure to use a seatbelt.

That sets Ohio apart from states like Rhode Island, California, Wyoming, Alabama and others, according to QuoteWizard’s rankings.

Here are the top 10 states with the worst drivers:

  1. Wyoming
  2. Virginia
  3. Colorado
  4. New Jersey
  5. South Dakota
  6. Vermont
  7. Maryland
  8. Washington
  9. Ohio
  10. South Carolina

These are the top 10 states with the best drivers:

  1. West Virginia
  2. Missouri
  3. Michigan
  4. New Mexico
  5. Texas
  6. Florida
  7. Illinois
  8. Kentucky
  9. Nevada
  10. Montana
