Authorities said an employee was sleeping inside an auto repair shop in Miami while two thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment from the business, Local 10 reported on Wednesday (October 21). The incident happened on September 29 between 3:15 a.m. and 4:50 a.m. at Moises Auto Electric Corporation at 3241 SW Eighth St. At the time of the incident, the employee was sleeping in a car inside the business, according to Miami police.

Officers said one of the burglars arrived at the shop on a bicycle through an alleyway behind the business. Surveillance video shows the unknown man opening a garage gate to enter the shop. The suspect took two drills and a battery jump starter before walking away, according to police. He came back later in a car driven by a second man.

"Police said the thief entered the business three more times, taking more drills, batteries and chargers. The video shows him placing the items into the trunk of the car that was parked in the alley," according to Local 10. Authorities said the stolen items are worth more than $4,000 in total. They are still looking for the suspects in the crime.
