Although many people might complain about other drivers on the road, some might have it better than they think.

Illinois drivers are among the best in the nation, a recent study shows.

QuoteWizard, a Seattle-based insurance comparison company, published the fifth-annual study of the best and worst drivers in each state. It ranks each state “using millions of data points.”

That means analyzing more than 2 million insurance quotes from QuoteWizard drivers, and building a composite score based on the rate of occurrence between four factors: accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs and citations.

“States considered to have the worst drivers had the highest rates of each incident factor,” QuoteWizard explained. “States considered to have the best drivers had the lowest rates of each incident factor.”

QuoteWizard ranks each state from worst to best on its site.

Illinois drops to No. 44 on the QuoteWizard list, which puts it in seventh place if the list is ordered best-to-worst.
