Bright lights and big cities may be appealing to many. However, some are more drawn to the small-city life.

According to Wallethub, suburbanization is rising, and city growth is slowing down.

On a list of 2020's best small cities in America, one Dallas suburb ranked in one of the top spots.

Southlake ranked in the 99th percentile, meaning it falls in the top one percent of all small cities in the country.

Southlake was first overall for lowest housing costs and has the second highest percentage of the population with high school diplomas or higher. The city ranked 14th in affordability and 6th in economic health.

Two other Texas cities ranked alongside Southlake in the top one percent.

Sugar Land and Cedar Park were among the best.

Sugar Land ranked 39th overall for affordability and 2nd in economic health.

Cedar Park was 42nd in affordability and 5th in economic health.

This list was based on a comparison of 1,268 cities across five key dimensions including affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety. These were then split into 43 relevant metrics including median household income, cost of living, population growth, job growth, school system quality, average commute time, and violent-crime rates.
