A Nashville TikTok star has been using her platform to donate money to local businesses and workers around Music City.

Lexy Kady, better known on TikTok as Lexy Lately the serial tipper, has more than one million followers on the social media network. According to WKRN, Kady asks her followers to donate money as part of her Venmo challenge, where she will then give the money to local businesses, musicians, and service industry workers.

One of her most recent challenge winners was Proper Bagel on Belmont Boulevard. Kady gave the shop $5,000 after hearing it was being forced to close for a week because of the debate.

With the final presidential debate held at Belmont University in Nashville, many surrounding businesses were forced to shut down for security reasons. One of the affected shops was Proper Bagel, which lost a week of business. A spokesperson for the university said businesses could still be open to foot traffic, but according to Proper Bagel, their delivery trucks couldn't get to the shop.

"Belmont has no concept of what it takes to actually operate a restaurant where everything is made from scratch, daily — on the premises," the bagel shop said.

"Thank you would be an understatement," Proper Bagel said in a statement. "We can't express the love and gratitude we have for Lexy Burke and all of the complete strangers for choosing us to win your Venmo tip challenge on TikTok."

Proper Bagel will reopen Saturday at 8 a.m.
