Ariana Grande has officially announced her sixth studio album.
Coming off the highly-anticipated release of the singer’s new single, “Positions,” on Friday (October 23), Grande returned to social media mere hours later to reveal the title, album artwork and release date for her new project. The effort, titled Positions, is set to release on October 30 and will serve as the official follow-up to 2019’s Thank U, Next.
“Positions the single out now. positions my 6th album out friday the 30th,” Grande announced on Twitter along with the LP’s heavenly cover, which shows the pop star — pictured parting her pouted lips — rendered under a dreamy blue-gray light. Much like some of the other Positions promotional snapshots floating around the web, Grande appears with a sultry '60s-inspired hairstyle and a subtle makeup look.
“Positions” signaled a new era for Grande, who accompanied the song’s release with a boss lady-style music video in which the 27-year-old musician assumes the role of Commander in Chief. The bop became an instant-favorite for Arianators, who — albeit invested in shady Pete Davidson fan theories — praised the star’s creative direction for her latest music era.
Positions will be Grande’s third full-length album to release in two years following the previously-issued Thank U, Next (2019) and Sweetener (2018), both of which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts in the first week of their respective release dates.
