Airbnb has issued a warning regarding its ban of parties in Nashville listings with Halloween taking place this weekend.
The company warned that violators of the ban, which was implemented in August, could face legal action, FOX 17 News reports.
Additionally, Airbnb is also prohibiting one-night reservations during Halloween weekend in the United States and Canada amid the possibility of renters throwing parties during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Both Nashville and the state of Tennessee recently saw another spike in cases and hospitalizations in relation to COVID-19, FOX 17 News reports.
"The great majority of guests are respectful of our hosts’ homes and neighbors, and we understand that this initiative will disrupt many one-night reservations that might not have led to parties. This action is designed to help protect our hosts and the communities they live in," Airbnb said in a statement obtained by FOX 17 News.
Airbnb's party and events policy notes a global ban on all parties and events at Airbnb listings, which includes a cap on occupancy at 16 and all disruptive events in listings. The ban will remain in effect indefinitely until further notice.
Guests who are reported for throwing a disruptive party or violating Airbnb's rules on gatherings of more than 16 people are subject to suspension or removal from Airbnb's platform.
