President Donald Trump won with almost 23% of votes cast by Clevelanders — at least the Clevelanders who were weighing in on the Best Pet Halloween Costume photo contest.

Doc, a 3-year-old Shiba Inu, dressed as Trump for cleveland.com’s contest. The news outlet received nearly 100 submissions, and readers cast nearly 2,500 votes in a three-day span, according to cleveland.com, which lists its submissions for readers to browse through. Voting closed Thursday (October 29) at noon.

“He loves to run around, chase squirrels and rabbits and play with his brother, Blu,” Doc’s costume contest entry reads. “He lives in Cleveland with owner Ernesto Mejia.”

Other entries that made the top 20 list included a bearded lizard dressed as a pirate, a bunny dressed as a jackalope, a French Bulldog dressed as a dragon, a Russian Tortoise dressed as a chicken, a Mini Pinscher as Batman and a 9-week-old kitten dressed as a pumpkin, to name a few.

The Best Pet Halloween Costume photo contest runner up was Floyd, a 6-year-old Labradoodle donning a popcorn bucket costume. He was followed by mini Yorkshire terrier Cujo, a therapy dog, depicting a common theme of 2020: a student attending class via Zoom, according to cleveland.com.
