H-E-B's Feast Of Sharing was one of the many local events that was canceled due to the global coronavirus pandemic; however, the grocer has scheduled different plans in its place.

Instead of the traditional dinner event and volunteer event, the grocery store chain is planning to make monetary and food donations.

The donations will go to 18 Texas food banks and more than 40 hunger relief agencies, such as Meals on Wheels.

The hunger relief organizations will distribute meals, including "holiday dinners with roasted turkey, green beans and mashed potatoes with garlic butter," to families in Texas and Mexico, reports KVUE.

H-E-B's website states, "A celebration we look forward to each and every year, the H‑E‑B Feast of Sharing gives us the opportunity to give back and ring in the holidays with our neighbors. Thanks to our partnerships with deeply dedicated nonprofits, we're able to safely continue this tradition for families across Texas and Mexico."

This year's Feast of Sharing event would have been the company's 31st year that the event would have been held.

On average, the feast usually feeds 3,000 pounds of sliced turkey, 2,500 pounds of cornbread dressing, 750 pumpkin pies, 380 gallons of mashed potatoes, and 140 gallons of turkey gravy.

The grocery store chain hopes to continue the regular dinner traditions in the 2021 holiday season.
