Norfolk FD: 63-Year-Old Arrested For Threatening To Bomb Polling Place

A 63-year-old man has reportedly been arrested for threatening to bomb a polling place in Virginia on Election Day.

The Norfolk Fire-Rescue's Office said it received a report of a bomb threat at a local polling place just before 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the Virginian-Pilot reports. The incident took place at the precinct located at Taylor Elementary on 1122 West Princess Anne Road.

The 63-year-old was arrested, but not publicly identified and authorities said he was charged with "threat to bomb the polling station," the Virginian-Pilot reports.

In an email sent to the Virginian-Pilot at 5:45 p.m., Norfolk Fire-Rescue's Office spokeswoman Stephanie A. Ramsey said she could not provide additional specific details in relation to the incident.

Democratic nominee, Vice President Joe Biden, has won the state of Virginia and received all of its 13 electoral college votes, according to the Associated Press.

Biden received 38.6% of the vote with 20% of precincts reporting, according to the AP. Virginia has voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in each of the last four presidential elections.

Incumbent Senator Mark Warner (D) also defeated Republican challenger Daniel Gade to win a third term.

Polls closed in Virginia at 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. The state began counting absentee ballots once the polls closed.
