Hungry Detroiters can now opt for a local third-party delivery service to bring them their takeout.
The endeavor aims to help support local businesses, especially those facing challenges during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Peddler, which used to go by the name Wing It, is a locally-owned delivery service for food and beverage takeout that Michiganders can use as opposed to major services like Grubhub and Uber Eats, Eater Detroit reported Wednesday (November 4). Customers within a 15-mile radius of Peddler’s Ferndale location can make a minimum order of $20, plus a $1 delivery fee.
Peddler delivers from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from noon to 8 p.m. on weekends. It’s available for curbside pickup every day from noon to 8 p.m., according to Peddler’s website.
“We spoke to countless other local entrepreneurs who were looking for new avenues to sell handcrafted goods to their customers,” Peddler’s President and Co-Founder Shamus Cook told the publication. “We want Peddler to be an online artisanal marketplace with locally crafted products that can be delivered to consumers’ doorsteps.”
“After talking to many of the local business owners, we quickly discovered many of them were struggling with the logistics and infrastructure to deliver their products on a scale that made financial sense,” Cook continued. “By partnering with Peddler, small businesses can reach a large audience while getting products delivered right to consumers’ doorsteps. Our goal is to be able to provide the marketplace and delivery infrastructure to help our partners weather the pandemic and beyond.”
