McDonald's announced they're launching a new plant-based menu, which will include a number of meatless options for its customers. The new menu will see the McPlant burger make its nationwide debut, as well.

According to USA Today McDonald's international president, Ian Borden, unveiled the McPlant burger during a virtual investor meeting on Monday (November 9). "McPlant is crafted exclusively for McDonald’s, by McDonald’s," Borden said during the call. "In the future, McPlant could extend across a line of plant-based products including burgers, chicken-substitutes and breakfast sandwiches."

McDonald's shared more details about the McPlant burger in a blog post. "Based on what we learned and an encouraging response" following a series of test runs at Canadian locations, McDonald's is "excited to give you a sneak preview of the McPlant – a delicious plant-based burger crafted for McDonald’s, by McDonald’s, and with the kind of craveable McDonald’s flavor our customers love."

Not only is McDonald's releasing its own plant-based patty, the fast food chain believes its recipe is one of the best available. "There are other plant-based burgers out there, but the McPlant delivers our iconic taste in a sink-your-teeth-in (and wipe-your-mouth) kind of sandwich," the blog post reads. "It’s made with a juicy, plant-based patty and served on a warm, sesame seed bun with all the classic toppings."

Put simply, McDonald's says "our culinary team nailed it" when it comes to the McPlant burger.
