New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton's bounce back performance against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football caught the attention of many, including one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James praised Newton's performance after the quarterback led the Patriots to a game-winning drive and a 30-27 victory.
"Helluva game @CameronNewton!!! Big time all night long!" James tweeted. "Game winning drive to add on to it."
Newton showed his appreciation for the four-time NBA Finals MVP's praise during his Tuesday morning interview on WEEI via CBS Boston.
“LeBron James is great people for me, him and his whole team. As a person I have so much respect for, it’s pretty cool,” Newton said.

Newton finished Monday's game with 274 yards on 27-of-35 passing, while also rushing for two touchdowns. The former NFL MVP also went 3-for-5 on the Patriots' final drive, which set up Nick Folk's 51-yard field goal as time expired.
The win snapped the Patriots' four-game losing streak, which saw Newton throw a combined five interceptions during losses to the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers and lose a crucial fumble in the final minutes of last week's loss against the Buffalo Bills.
Prior to Monday's game, Newton told reporters, "I'm getting tired of sucking," while critiquing his past struggles via ProFootballTalk.
