What's Friday the 13th without a strange occurrence? That's what happened to a driver when he drove over a lone alligator in Florida.

The incident happened overnight on Friday (November 13), Local 10 reported. Cocoa police said both the driver and the gator are okay. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is finding the gator a “safer place to roam,” authorities added.

“The things that go bump in the night: patrol officers rescued this little guy as he wandered into dangerous territory,” Cocoa police tweeted Friday morning. “He was hit by a car on US1 at Dixon Blvd. He was fine and the driver was not injured.”

Gators have been making some headlines recently. Last week, deputies had to remove a small alligator that wandered onto an elementary school playground. Ironically, that school's mascot was also an alligator. Meanwhile in Naples, a "dinosaur-sized" alligator was spotted strolling across a golf course. A worker at the golf course captured the large-and-in-charge gator on camera, calling it something out of Jurassic Park.
