A man from Denver started an online petition to make actor and television host LeVar Burton the next host of Jeopardy!
If there's one thing the internet can agree on, it seems to be that Burton should host the classic trivia game show.
"Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and filling the roll of Kunta Kinte in the ever important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds," reads the petition description. "This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we'd all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!"
Since posting the Change.org campaign on Monday, November 9, the petition gained over 20,000 signatures in less than 3 days.
The viral campaign was launched by Joshua Anderson who, according to Westword, is a Denver DIY musician.
"... I never imagined we'd get such a huge response," wrote Sanders in a update on November, 12. "... we just might be able to catch the eye of some of the decision-makers with these numbers!"
The petition now has over 63,000 signatures after four days of being online.
Even if nothing comes from it, I can’t tell how much how I appreciate all y’alls love and support! 🙏🏾♥️

Although there's been no word from Sony Pictures Entertainment, the viral petition did catch the attention of Burton himself.
"Even if nothing comes from it, I can't tell how much how [sic] I appreciate all y'alls love and support," wrote Burton on Twitter.
The show's iconic and beloved host Alex Trebek passed away on November 8.
After revealing he had pancreatic cancer in March of 2019, Jeopardy! and Trebek began preparing for his replacement but there has been no official announcement as of yet.
