J. Cole Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary Of 'Friday Night Lights'

J. Cole's monumental mixtape, Friday Night Lights, turned 10-year-old.

On Thursday (November 12), the rapper took to Instagram to commemorate the mega milestone with some sweet sentiments. "10 years today. Grateful ain't even the word. This one defined me as a artist,” he captioned the artwork for the mixtape. "Thank you forever for the love. My dream is to one day have this on DSP’s where it belongs. Until then…"

Cole went on to tag his collaborators, including Drake, Wale and Omen, as well as some of the artists that he sampled on the set like Kanye West, Erykah Badu and Janelle Monáe. Friday Night Lights dropped on November 12, 2010 and preceded his debut 2011 LP, Cole World: The Sideline Story. It followed his previous mixtapes: 2007's The Come Up and 2009's The Warm Up.

For the time being, the rapper is working steadily on the follow-up to 2018's KOD. Earlier this year, he dropped stand-alone tracks, "The Climb Back" and "Lion King on Ice," but is taking his time to work on the full set. "No date for the album yet, taking my time, still finishing," he wrote in a tweet, which was accompanied by a heart emoji in July.
