Overnight Shooting At Nightclub Ends With 6 Injured, Including 2 Officers

What was supposed to be a fun night out ended with six people shot at a Gastonia nightclub late Thursday night. Injuries include two officers with the Gastonia Police Department who were also shot at Remedies Nightclub. Police have arrested two suspects: Alonzo Lewis Hamilton and Allen Slaughter.

According to a statement released by Gastonia Police, off-duty officers were working at Remedies Nightclub on Union Road around 11 p.m. Thursday (November 12) when they attempted to break up a fight. The cause of the altercation is unknown at this time.

The fight intensified, shots rang out, and six people were injured. Gastonia Police said Sergeant E. Nelson and Officer M. Lewis sustained non-life threatening injuries. The four patrons of the club also received non-life threatening injuries during the incident.

Both Hamilton and Slaughter are facing charges of six felony counts each of Assault With Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. According to WCNC, they are each being held on a $1 million bond and are expected to appear in court on Friday (November 13).
