A baker from North Carolina is competing on the newest season of the Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship. Lorenzo Delgado, of Kannapolis, is a part-time chef at a hotel, but bakes full-time out of his home. For the past few weeks, he has been demonstrating his skills in the kitchen on a national stage.
"I love cakes," said Delgao. "Anything decorating with cakes. Like I can skip the whole process of baking the cake. I just want to decorate it."
Though he loved baking in his grandmother's kitchen growing up, it wasn't until a high school culinary class showed him a new path.
"I wasn't really interested in doing at first just because it's like culinary, and i was in high school and you're like, 'Uh that's not really the cool thing.' But I had Chef Harris, and she kind of like took me under her wing and she made me fall in love with it, and then I just kind of skyrocketed from there," said Delgado.
Delgado is competing among other bakers for the top prize of $25,000. Viewers can watch his performance in the newest episode of Holiday Baking Championship at 9 p.m. Monday on Food Network.
