A Middle Tennessee in-home health care worker is accused of stealing $457,000 from two patients and a local church.
Vicky Lynn Wiseman, 43, of Murfreesboro was charged with theft over $250,000, forgery over $250,000 and identity theft for one victim; theft over $60,000 for a second victim; and theft over $10,000 for the church, the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office announced on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.
RCSO said the first victim lost approximately $369,000, the second lost approximately $76,000 and the third lost approximately $12,000. The department began investigating an incident involving Wiseman in December 2019, which led to her arrest last Thursday (November 12).
Wiseman was a hospice worker at the time of the initial incident and allegedly defrauded an elderly victim out of "substantial amounts of money over the course of a year and a half," RCSO reports. The department later discovered a second and third victim, both of whom accused Wiseman of defrauding them out of significant amounts of money over the course of a year.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was involved in the investigation early on and provided extremely useful evidence in the case.
Wiseman is currently being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. She is expected to receive copies of her indictments in Circuit Court on November 23.
RCSO believes Wiseman may have also stolen from more victims. Anyone that may have been a victim of financial dealings with Wiseman is advised to call the department at (615)-898-7770.
