US-HOLIDAY-CHRISTMAS

The official Christmas tree of San Antonio has arrived in Travis Park.

The tree is gifted annually by H-E-B. It is a concolor fir from Northern Michigan near Lake Michigan.

According to a press release from H-E-B, there will be more than 10,000 red, white, and blue lights as well as dozens of handmade decorations.

Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the tree lighting ceremony for this year will be virtual. The lighting ceremony can be streamed on H-E-B's youtube channel at 7 p.m. on November 27th. The lights will be turned on at 7:20 p.m. after a musical performance by Mariachi Las Altenas.

This will be the fourth year that a tree is displayed in Travis Park. It had been in front of the Alamo for over 30 years.

To help residents celebrate from the comfort of their homes, H-E-B is handing out 10,000 holiday goodie bags at select stores from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 20th.

The goodie bags will include cookies and hot cocoa. The following stores will be handing out the bags:

  • Marbach and 410 H-E-B plus!
  • Zarzamora and Military H-E-B plus!
  • Olmas Park H-E-B
  • W.W. White H-E-B
