Two Texas federal judges released a music video about the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Southern District of Texas, and it is spreading across social media.
Judge Jennifer Elrod of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth circuit and U.S. District Judge Charles Eskridge released the three-minute, fifty-second video of a song called "We'll be Back."
The song was adapted from the song "You'll be Back" written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Jonathan Groff in the hit Broadway musical Hamilton.
The pair sings to lawyers in Houston and Galveston that are concerned with the pandemic's impact on trials and appeals. They urge the lawyers not to worry.
Elrod sings, "Why so sad?? We'll be back soon, you'll see. Pandemics ride, then they fall. We will see each other through it all. Despite all that's changed, litigation will be here to stay."
Eskridge joins in, "No need to be mad. When push comes to shove, it's your bench bar colleagues you'll remember that you love."
In a surprise ending, Eskridge shouts out, "Everybody!"
Nine other federal judges then appear on screen and join in.
Eskridge finishes, "We'll be back, time will tell. You'll remember that we serve you well."
