An investigation is underway after human remains were found in Colorado's San Luis Valley.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) believe the bodies, which were discovered in Las Sauces, could be the victims of a serial killing.
According to the Denver Gazette, CBI says the case could involve multiple people who have been missing from the Conejos County area since August.
"They have been recovered and are currently being analyzed as part of the identification process. The sites are in close proximity to one another near the town of Las Sauces in Conejos County," CBI said in a news release. "The property owners are not currently living at these properties."
CBI's investigation into the case will be assisted by the Monte Vista and Alamosa police departments and the Saguache County Sheriff's Office.
"We are a tight community," Alamosa Police Chief Ken Anderson told the Gazette. "Any missing persons case is a concern."
Investigators are also looking for help from the public.
"A tip line has been created to gather information related to this investigation." said CBI. "Please call 719-270-0210 with any information about this incident."
Authorities have not speculated about the identities of the victims in Las Sauces, but Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze did confirm to the Gazette that the incident is not related to the disappearance of 49-year-old mother Suzanne Morphew.
