A wild scene unfolded in New York City when somebody climbed on top of an MTA bus in Brooklyn and started shooting off a flamethrower. A video of the incident, which occurred during rush hour back on November 8, was posted to Instagram, and it quickly went viral.
The video, which was filmed by a drone, shows a man jumping from the roof of an ice cream truck onto the bus, which was stopped at an intersection. He sets off the flamethrower multiple times and jets of fire rain down on top of the bus. As the bus driver gets out to see what's going on, the man then walks to the back of the bus and points the flamethrower at the ground, setting the street on fire.
According to the New York Post, the stunt was part of a music video by local rapper Dupree G.O.D.
"'Wutang' music video shoot was insane. It was a movie. It was f****** epic," the rapper wrote on Instagram. "Much everyone to all who came out (sic). We shut Franklin Avenue Down. With amazing energy. We are in this together. We The ILLest. Video coming," he added.
According to WNBC, there were other videos showing a flamethrower being used in a schoolyard, but the news outlet could not confirm if they were related to the stunt on top of the bus. The NYPD has launched an investigation into the incident.
The MTA said there 25 people on the bus at the time, and they were unharmed. The bus continued to the next stop, and the passengers were moved to another bus.
"We don't even need to say how absurd, dangerous, and just plain stupid this was. The reckless individual who torched over the top of an occupied bus put New Yorkers, including the bus operator, in life-threatening peril. We are grateful for the courageous actions of the operator in moving riders to safety minimized risk, and are cooperating fully with the NYPD investigation."
