Although the season for hockey has been delayed, the Nashville Predators are still giving back to their community. On Wednesday, goaltender Pekka Rinne and the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily made their annual donation to the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This year's total was $365,000.20.

Since starting the 365 Fund in the the 2012-2013 season with former captain Shea Weber, it has contributed to more than $3.3 million to cancer research. Even though the NHL is not currently playing, teams are still celebrating Hockey Fights Cancer Month.

"Despite the ongoing pandemic, Pekka Rinne and the Predators Foundation have remained deeply committed to raising funds and awareness for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt," said Rebecca King, Nashville Predators Vice President of Community Relations. "With endless support from our loyal fans and partners on a variety of new and reinvented initiatives, we have been able to do just that."

Typically, Rinne and others would visit with the children at the hospital, but the pandemic put a halt in their plans this year. The goalie has, however, held multiple virtual visits to still interact with the kids.

"Although we certainly wish that we were visiting with the kids after today's ceremony, we are still thrilled to continue our support of the Children's Hospital during such a difficult time."
