These Texas Cities Are In Top 15 For Lowest Cost Of Living In The US

In the midst of the ongoing global pandemic, budgets are tightening as residents look for ways to cut costs.

Move.com released a list of the top 15 cities with the lowest cost of living and Texas held three of the top spots.

El Paso came in at the top spot, being the city with the lowest cost of living in the United States. According to the site, the average cost of living in El Paso falls under $1,400 per month.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs for El Paso residents:

  • Utilities: $159.26
  • Internet: $60.72
  • Monthly gas: $115.32
  • Rent (1-bedroom apartment): $710.00
  • Food (per person): $278.72
  • Total: $1,324.02

Corpus Christi came in at number seven on the list with the average cost of living falling under $1,600 per month.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs for Corpus Christi residents:

  • Utilities: $147.31
  • Internet: $63.64
  • Monthly gas: $103.74
  • Rent (1-bedroom apartment): $957.02
  • Food (per person): $266.06
  • Total: $1,537.77

Plano came in at number 15 on the list with the average cost of living falling under $1,800 per month.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs for Plano residents:

  • Utilities: $152.65
  • Internet: $61.36
  • Monthly gas: $103.24
  • Rent (1-bedroom apartment): $1,160.00
  • Food (per person): $275.38
  • Total: $1,752.63

According to the list, the second most affordable city in the United States is Wichita, Kansas followed by Lincoln, Nebraska in third.

The city with the highest cost of living in the United States is San Francisco, California, followed by New York City, New York and Oakland, California.
