The Michigan State Police commended one of its troopers for saving a grandfather and his grandson from a burning vehicle in Wayne County.

The two walked away from the blaze with only “minor injuries,” thanks to Brighton Post Trooper Daniel Drewyor’s efforts.

The 56-year old man, from Plymouth, was transported to a local hospital in “stable condition,” and his grandson, 5, sustained “minor injuries,” according to police.

On Twitter, MSP shared a two-minute, twenty-second clip of the trooper's dash cam footage showing the scene of the accident.

“Brighton Post trooper on patrol comes across a traffic crash today on Ann Arbor Rd over I-275 in Wayne County, where a 56 year old man is trapped and the vehicle is on fire,” MSP First District tweeted Tuesday (November 17), along with the dash cam video. “Trooper pulls man from vehicle before the car is fully engulfed.”

“The man from Plymouth, MI is alive and in stable condition at a local hospital,” MSP continued. “The cause of the crash was due to traveling too fast for conditions on icy roads. The man was with his grandson, a 5 year old boy who received minor injuries. Nice job Trooper Drewyor!”
