A Florida mother was arrested Tuesday (November 17) after deputies said she made her 2-year-old son smoke THC from a vape pen, according to Local 10.
Brevard County deputies said an ex-girlfriend of 22-year-old Kiarra Clarisse told one of the boy's family members that Clarisse only wanted to “party, drink and work in the club.” She also alleged Clarisse wasn't taking care of her son during her supervised visits.
The first time this happened, Clarisse sent a Snapchat message to her then-girlfriend claiming the child accidentally got a hold of her vape pen and smoked the THC oil inside, according to the affidavit. A separate Snapchat video shows her smoking while lying next to the toddler, officials said.
Deputiess claim the mother did it so the drugs would help the boy's sleep schedule and appetite. Authorities also alleged Clarisse canceled the boy's doctor appointments to avoid drug detection in the toddler's system. That also meant the boy wasn't getting the required vaccines, they added.
Officials said a relative noticed the child seemed lethargic during a visit. That's when Clarisse's ex-girlfriend notified him about what happened, authorities added. "The man called his attorney and called the Department of Children and Families and then took the boy to a hospital to take a drug test, which turned up positive for THC," Local 10 reported.
Clarisse is facing a child neglect charge.
