Today (Friday, November 20) was a big day for In-N-Out fans in Colorado.

After it was announced that the new locations in Aurora and Colorado Springs would be opening the following day, people started to head out to the Aurora location to be the first to have an In-N-Out burger in Colorado.

As opening day progressed, the Aurora Police Department were on the scene directing traffic and giving residents updates on the lengthy wait times.

As of 3:00 P.M., the Aurora PD reported that the wait time at the new In-N-Out was 12 hours long, saying many cars would not even be served by the time the store closed for the day.

All In-N-Out locations open at 10:00 A.M. and close at 1:30 A.M. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The long line also caused traffic in the surrounding area. The Aurora In-N-Out is located near East Alameda Avenue and Interstate 225 at the Town Center at Aurora mall.

Aurora PD was prepared for the influx in traffic tweeting the afternoon before, "It's gonna be a double-double traffic this week on E. Alameda at Abilene as many descend upon us for their first Colorado bite of In-n-Out burgers!"

By 3:30 P.M. Aurora PD informed the public in a final update saying that the last car had been "marked" and would be served around 2:00 A.M.

Throughout the day Aurora PD encouraged residents to support other local eateries, but for many, the chance of having an In-N-Out burger on its historic first day in Colorado was worth the wait.
